The Saitama Shakespeare Series concludes with “King John,” featuring Shun Oguri and Kotaro Yoshida. Originally starting in 1998 under Yukio Ninagawa, the series aimed to perform all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays. “King John,” initially the 36th play, was canceled due to COVID-19 but revived in December 2022, with performances in Tokyo, Aichi, and Osaka, ending on February 24 in Saitama. Shun Oguri starred as the young “bastard,” while Yoshida played the King of France in Tokyo and King John in Aichi, Osaka, and Saitama. The production maintained the “all-male” tradition, with male actors portraying all roles. This historical drama, depicting madness and war, marks the series’ 25-year conclusion.

John King, USA is an hour-long television news show hosted by John King on CNN. In Brunnenberg prison for men, the new warden introduces a revolutionary convict re-socializing project: training guide dogs for the blind. The perks make all convicts volunteer for only seven slots. Except burly macho Moskowitch 'Mosk', who cares only for the manly work out contest. The warden blackmails him, he can only do the contest if his assigned pup passes the first test. All dogs must pass or the project is halted. Unlike the others, Mosk only starts caring for his canine when it gets sick.

When the King of France demands that John relinquish his crown in favor of his nephew, the young Prince Arthur, war is the inevitable result. Excommunication, attempted atrocity, rebellion, and assassination all contribute to political turmoil and personal grief for a mother who has lost her son.

A suspect is brought to a London police station charged with gross indecency. Police at the station believe he is connected with a murder in the area earlier that night, but the suspect refuses to speak.
